March 30 5-K run to benefit
Williams Scholarship Fund
A 5-K run set for Sunday, March 30, at Elmwood Park will benefit
the Brittany Williams Scholarship Fund. UNO's Greek Week committee has
organized the event.
Williams, a UNO pre-nursing student, was killed by a sniper Jan.
20 while waiting in the drive-through lane of an Omaha fast food restaurant.
A
memorial scholarship is being established in her honor. University of Nebraska
President J.B. Milliken has directed $5,000 to establish the scholarship through
the University of Nebraska Foundation. The university is asking individuals in
the community to collectively contribute an additional $5,000 to endow the
fund.
Members
of the AKA sorority also have established a scholarship in Williams' memory. Funding
from the two scholarships will be combined to create a single Brittany Williams
Memorial Scholarship.
