Ma-ie
Day, 1969
From the 1970 Tomahawk yearbook
Ma-ie Day, the day signifying the beginning of
the planting season and a day of festivity, began with the crowning of the 36th
Princess, Suzi Mortensen, the "ruler of grain."
The traditional student holiday with the
parade of floats centered on the them, the musical "Carousel." A new activity
sprang into being with the creation of the mini-est mini booth sponsored by
Circle K.
The sights included the traditional kissing
booth, the pie throwing contest, the dunking stool, the trivia bowl, and the
intra-mural races.
The afternoon folk rock concert featured Zager
and Evans singing their hit "2525."
