Professor William Utley heads Omaha's Charter Convention
From the September 1956 issue of the University of Omaha Alumni Newsletter
Alumni remember Prof. William T. Utley both as an instructor and
as a student of government. Lately he added a new title: coordinator of Omaha's
Charter Convention.
As coordinator, Mr. Utley arranges meetings,
directs information and contacts civic groups and individuals for opinions. His
job ends Sept. 15 when the final charter draft is presented to the City
Council.
Though this job is "time consuming," Mr. Utley
keeps up with his positions as chairman of the History and Government
Department and director of the Institute on World Affairs.
Mr. Utley sees alumni as important in each of
his three interests: "Alumni take their government and their alma mater
seriously. They have become a vital element through their interest in local and
national government, their annual sponsorship of the Institute, and their
scholarship program."
