What We Do

The UNO Alumni Association's first priority is to serve the university. Among the services and activities we sponsor:

Alumni Activities

The UNO Alumni Association provides many opportunities for alumni to visit campus each year. These include:

� Awards Program � The Citation for Alumnus Achievement Award, Outstanding Service Awards, Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award, ROTC Outstanding Cadet, UNO Alumni Horizon Award, Outstanding Nebraska Legislator Award, Employee of the Year and the Athletic Hall of Fame inductees.

� Community Outreach � The alumni association's president and the chancellor meet personally with alumni at various corporations in the Omaha area to talk about UNO's progress.

� Golden Circle Activities � Graduates of 45 years ago and more return to campus each October during Homecoming for the Golden Circle Reunion. Omaha-area Golden Circlers meet monthly at the alumni center for the Golden Circle Lunch Bunch.

� Homecoming � A family picnic and activities at the alumni center before the homecoming football game at Al Caniglia Field.

� Round Table Luncheons � Selected donors and board members meet with prominent alumni or officials to discuss university-related issues.

Alumni Center

The Association's William H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center is one of the most popular event rental facilities in Omaha. It is available to the general public for a variety of events, including wedding receptions, meetings, conferences and holiday parties. Alumni status or membership is NOT required to rent the Alumni Center. However, Alumni Cardholders (donors to the UNO Annual Fund), receive a 10 percent discount on rental fees for personal events.

Alumni Records

A state-of-the-art records system holds current records on alumni back to the university's early days.

� Alumni Lists � The association provides alumni lists at no charge to departments on campus. Many academic departments host special events and activities for their alumni and send department newsletters.

� Alumni Contact � The association likes to keep in continuous contact with alumni, to inform them about campus progress, invite them back to special events and help them keep in contact with other alumni.

Alumni Magazine

The quarterly UNO Alum is mailed to 70,000 alumni and distributed on campus to faculty, staff and students.

Fund-Raising Programs

The Alumni Association is dedicated to raising money for the benefit of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the Association.

� The Annual Fund � Dollars raised will go toward an array of programs and services, including the UNO Alum, reunions, teaching awards, Library book acquisitions, a campus information center, Roundtable Luncheons, and an awards program.

� Chancellor's Scholarship Swing � Annual event involving more than 200 golfers and 75 sponsors. Around $50,000 is raised for student scholarships each year.

Faculty and Staff Services

The association provides the following services:

� Travel Advances � Cash advance available to faculty and staff traveling for university business.

� Department/Project Fund Management � Departments are becoming more involved in their own fund raising � we help them manage their funds.
