1999 Outstanding Service Awards
(OMAHA,
NE) — The UNO Alumni Association issued four of its
Outstanding Service Awards during the organization’s annual Chairman of the
Board Dinner Tuesday, Nov. 9. The dinner, hosted by Alumni Association Chairman
of the Board Mike Jones, was held at the W.H. Thompson Alumni Center in
appreciation for the efforts of the 25-member UNO Alumni Association Board of
Directors.
Receiving Outstanding Service Awards were
Wendell Quist, Gary Repair, Robert Runyon and Michele Sperle. The award honors
faculty, staff, alumni or friends who have shown long, outstanding service to
the alumni association and/or university.
Quist, a partner with the Seim, Johnson,
Sestak and Quist accounting firm, began assisting the university in the late
1980s with the startup of the Maverick Pickle Card Program. Since then he has
served as the program’s Utilization of Funds Officer, a post he will resign at
the end of this year.
Repair is senior producer for UNO Television.
A 1982 UNO graduate, he is being honored for his longtime efforts on behalf of
the UNO Chancellor’s Scholarship Swing, for which he produces a video each
year.
Runyon, dean of University Libraries, has been
instrumental in providing UNO graduates access to library services through the
UNO Alumni Card. He also has facilitated the association’s efforts to archive
the university’s history through the library’s Archives Department.
Sperle, who was owner and president of CIT
Networking Inc. before selling that company earlier this year, was instrumental
in establishing and maintaining the UNO Alumni Association’s computer records
system. She also has played an integral role in the organization of the annual
UNO Chancellor’s Scholarship Swing.
