The UNO Alumni Association
issued its Outstanding Service Award during the organization's Board of
Directors Annual Meeting Dec. 19.

Instituted in 1974,
Outstanding Service Awards honor continuous, outstanding service to the alumni
association and/or university. The association issued a 2006 Outstanding
Service Award to former board chairman Adrian Minks.
A 1978 UNO MBA graduate,
Minks is a vice president for Omaha Public Power District. Minks joined the
association's board in 1995. She left the board in 2000 after completing two
terms but returned in 2002. In 2005 she became the 81st UNO graduate since 1913
to serve as the association's chairman of the board. During Minks' tenure as
chairman the association:
• Completed an expansion and renovation
to the William H. and Dorothy Thompson Alumni Center;
• Raised $426,066 in unrestricted
donations;
• Provided 38 $1,000 UNO Alumni Legacy
Scholarships to first-year students who are children of UNO graduates;
• Established an "In Care Of" program
through which care packages are sent to UNO-affiliated soldiers currently at
war.
